Day 6
Livingston, at the mouth of the Río Dulce, is Guatemala’s easternmost settlement. Accessible only by boat, this fishing village is home to the Garifuna, who settled here after being forcibly relocated from St. Vincent in 1795 and proudly preserve their African and indigenous heritage. The town pulses with lively music and dance, the most common being Punta performed to rhythmic drumming and is listed by UNESCO as Oral and Intangible Heritage.
