Itinerary

Piraeus
Day 1
Greece's cosmopolitan capital, Athens, connected by Piraeus port, is an exciting blend of ancient and modern. The Grand Promenade seamlessly links the city's main archaeological sites, and a visit isn't complete without exploring the Acropolis—a hill housing ancient ruins, including the iconic Parthenon. For deeper insights, the Acropolis Museum awaits, and a marble path ascends Filopappou Hill, offering majestic views of the 'high city.'
Monemvasia
Day 2
Monemvasia, a medieval castle town on a small islet attached to Greece's mainland, is among Europe's most picturesque and well-preserved medieval towns. Set on a rocky outcrop surrounded by the sea, it thrived as a crucial trading port during the Byzantine and Venetian eras. With narrow cobblestone streets, winding alleyways and charming stone houses, the town invites exploration of castle ruins, churches, boutique shops and rooftop dining.
Milos, Adamas
Day 3
Adamas, a port town on volcanic Milos in the Cyclades, is a historical treasure trove. The 600-year-old Church of the Holy Trinity epitomises the island's religious legacy. The Catacombs of Milos are a subterranean labyrinth of early Christian tombs dating back to the 1st and 5th centuries AD, while the Ancient Theatre of Milos, stands as a remarkable remnant of the island's classical past.
Rethymnon, Crete
Day 4
First inhabited by the Minoans, the Venetians and then the Turks, this romantic port, called Rethymno in Greek, on the island of Crete is a testament to its multicultural history. The town's charming Venetian-Ottoman quarter features ancient mansions with floral canopies, ornate monuments and enchanting, colourful lanes. The well-preserved medieval Venetian fortifications of the imposing Fortezza castle stand guard over the town.
Mandraki, Nisyros
Day 5
Nisyros, in the Dodecanese, houses Greece's youngest volcano. The volcanic activity results in hot springs and black sand beaches. Walks to the crater rim or to the floor of the caldera take in the villages of Mandraki and Emborios. Nisyros also features the archaeological site of Palaiokastro with remnants of an acropolis and Nikia Monastery with Byzantine artefacts. Boats depart for Gyali Island, home to a pumice quarry and a monastery.
Symi
Day 5-6
Symi, a small island of the Dodecanese group, lies between Rhodes and mainland Türkiye. Its main village, Ano Symi, is considered one of the most picturesque ports of Greece, with houses in vivid colours cascading down the hilly slopes. The Archaeological Museum of Symi features three collections—archaeological, Byzantine, and folklore—with Hellenistic and Roman sculptures and vessels, providing a glimpse into the island's rich history.
Rhodes
Day 6
Rhodes Town, one of Europe's best medieval walled towns, is known for the 14th century UNESCO-listed Old Town constructed by the Knights of St. John and the 100-foot Colossus statue that once stood in the harbour. Highlights include the bustling Turkish district, Grand Masters' Palace adorned with marble mosaics and Gothic Street of the Knights. Nearby Lindos offers whitewashed streets and an Acropolis with views over St. Paul's Bay.
Patmos, Pamos
Day 7
An Aegean island in the Dodecanese islands, Patmos is an important sacred site for Christian pilgrims connected to St. John. It is here that St. John, or John of Patmos, was believed to have written the Book of Revelations in the Cave of the Apocalypse, above the port of Skala. Pilgrims walk to the top of the hill to the 11th-century Monastery of Saint John, which overlooks the picturesque white-washed capital of the island, Chora.
Kusadasi
Day 8
Kusadasi is the gateway to 11th century BC Ephesus, a well-preserved ancient site. This UNESCO-listed treasure was a vital Roman capital and religious hub from 129 BC. It features marble streets, the Temple of Hadrian, mosaic-adorned Terrace Houses, the Library of Celsus and the amphitheatre where St. Paul spoke. Nearby stood the Temple of Artemis/Diana, once among the Seven Wonders. The Seljuk archaeological museum displays Ephesus artefacts.
Chios
Day 9
The birthplace of Greek poet Homer, Chios island In the Aegean Sea, is known for mastic production and medieval villages. Fortress-like mastic villages were built under Genoese rule in the 12th century. Highlights include Olympi and medieval Pirgi with its intricately patterned geometric house decorations, Mesta with its fortified alleyways and central Taxiarches Church, and the mastic tree groves used to produce the unique resin.
Mytilene, Lesbos Island
Day 10
Mitilini with its medieval alleys, is capital of Lesbos, Greece's third-largest island and an Ancient Greek cultural centre. Sappho, a female ancient Greek poet who worshipped Aphrodite, is celebrated at her birthplace in Skala Eressos. Messa features a 4th-century BC temple dedicated to Zeus, Dionysus, and Hera. The Lesvos Island UNESCO Global Geopark showcases an ancient preserved forest. Lesbos is also famous for ouzo distilleries.
Canakkale
Day 11
The culturally significant seaport of Çanakkale is the gateway to the Dardanelles, connecting the Sea of Marmara to the Aegean Sea. This historic city in northwestern Turkey, on the Asian side of the Dardanelles Strait, is renowned for its role in the poignant Gallipoli Campaign during World War I, commemorated at the Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park. The ancient city of Troy, immortalised in Greek mythology, lies nearby.
Cruising Dardanelles
Day 11
The Dardanelles strait, known as the Hellespont in antiquity, links the Sea of Marmara to the Aegean Sea. This strategic 60 km passage between Europe and Asia has been contested for millennia, controlling access to the Black Sea. Mythology recalls Helle's drowning and Leander's legendary swim, later repeated by a 22-year-old Lord Byron. Today, tourists explore Gallipoli on the northern shore, the WWI campaign site where the Anzac legend was born.
Istanbul
Day 12
Istanbul bridges Europe and Asia, shaped by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans. This diversity infuses the city's architecture, cuisine, music and arts. Sites include the Hagia Sophia museum, a former church and mosque, the stunning Blue Mosque with six minarets, Topkapi Palace, the former residence of the Ottoman sultans, and the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world.
